Women's Services
The Women's Health Services of Mountain States Health Alliance offer loving care for every stage of a woman's life. Services include screenings and education, diagnostic facilities, gynecologic oncology, breast care and more.
Our birth centers are family-centered, offering the whole family a chance to celebrate the birthing process. Many Mountain States facilities offer home-like birthing suites so mother and baby can receive care in the same comfortable room.
Our diagnostic facilities offer women such state-of-the-art services as:
- Stereotactic breast biopsy
- Digital mammography
- Bone density testing
- Breast ultrasound
- Breast MRI
Johnson City Medical Center (JCMC) provides lumpectomy, mastectomy, reconstructive surgery and rehabilitative services for women who need these treatments.
Additional services offered at Mountain States facilities include:
- Gynecologic surgery
- Genetic counseling
- Breast diagnosis and treatment
- In-vitro fertilization lab
- Laser and microscopic surgery
- Plastic surgery
Children's Services
If a patient's pregnancy unexpectedly becomes complicated, high-risk pregnancy experts and the region's only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) are available at Niswonger Children's Hospital. The 32-bed NICU features a specialized healthcare team caring for the most delicate babies in our region.
Niswonger Children's Hospital also features a 10-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) that is under the direction of pediatric intensivists (physicians who specialize in the care and treatment of pediatric patients in intensive care).
The Niswonger Children's Hospital:
- A transport team, including NICU and PICU staff, that travels with young patients by Wings Air Rescue or by ground in a specially equipped pediatric ambulance
- Pediatric specialists, including cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, neurology and much more
- Certified Child Life Specialists who work with children in the hospital to prepare them for procedures and help them express fear or anxiety
- Community outreach, such as the annual Regional Children's Health Summit, which educates the community on health risks affecting our region's children
- The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Tri-Cities Affiliate Clinic
