Affiliate nursing student opportunities at Mountain States

Nurse Resource Center

  • The Nurse Resource Center is a place for student nurses to seek assistance with learning to be the best professional nurse possible.
  • Students can learn Mountain States' organizational structure as well as our philosophy of Patient-Centered Care and why it is such an integral part of our system. Call our office at (423) 431-6367 for more information.

Learning Resources Center- LRC

  • The Learning Resources Center provides affiliate students with a large variety of books, library journals, evidence-based medicine reviews, online consumer health links, etc.
  • There are three medical databases that are available for students to access either in the LRC or at home: EBSCOmed, Infotrac and PubMed.
  • Students can take advantage of the helpful staff and convenient hours of the LRC. Call (423) 431-1691 for more information.

NCLEX Review

  • NCLEX Reviews are available for students who are current Team Members and preparing to take their state board exams.
  • It is an online review that requires an access code.
  • Access codes are assigned to those interested by the general recruiters at (432) 431-1015.

Classes through MSHA University

  • All affiliate students can take advantage of the array of courses and programs available through MSHA Corporate University.
  • MSHA Corporate University offers courses for all learning styles and settings, taught by experts in the content area.
  • Some learning opportunities are a single course; others are part of a set of courses that build skills and knowledge in a particular area. Examples include CPR- American Heart Association, pediatric assessment, behavioral health, diabetes care, pharmacology updates, etc.
  • Students interested need to call Organizational Development at (423) 431-5434 to enroll in a particular course.

Opportunities for affiliate Public and Allied Health students

Internships

  • Mountain States has a wide variety of opportunities available for student internships.
  • Internships allow students to participate in hands-on learning experiences.
  • Mountain States welcomes students to participate as interns to gain experience from any area of interest.
  • Any affiliate student wishing to complete an internship at Mountain States must call the Education Program Specialist in Organizational Development at (423) 431-1673 to set up the internship experience.
